Raw Hot Cross Buns

Healthy raw hot cross buns recipe free from dairy, eggs, refined sugar and gluten.

  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sultanas
  • 20 ml + 10ml water
  • 1 tbs coconut butter


  • In a high speed blender, process the cashews, coconut and cinnamon until fine.
  • Add the sultanas and 20ml water and pulse a few times to combine without breaking down the sultanas too much.
  • Remove mixture from the blender and press into a small dish or onto a plate, to a thickness of 1 inch.
  • Chill while preparing the next step.
  • Melt the coconut butter over a hot water bath.
  • Add 10ml of hot/warm water, if needed, to make the coconut butter into a smooth paste.
  • Remove the cashew mixture from the fridge.
  • Slice into 8 squares.
  • Use a knife to spread the coconut butter into crosses on the "buns".
  • Serve immediately or chill until ready to eat.
