Indian Cabbage & Potatoes

A delicious Indian spiced side dish, with soft cabbage and potato. The whole mustard seeds and cumin seeds add bursts of authentic flavour. This makes a great side dish with rice pilau, naan breads, pakoras, or your favourite Indian dish.
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp black mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed (1-2cm pieces)
  • 3 heaped cups shredded cabbage
  • ½ cup water
  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat.
  2. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  3. When the seeds start to pop, add the remaining spices, fry for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the potatoes and cabbage, fry for a minute, stirring to coat with spices.
  5. Lower the heat to med-low, add water and cover.
  6. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes or until potatoes are cooked through and water has evaporated.
  7. Serve warm.
